Unfortunately, the N-50A's front USB input cannot be used with any other type of device with USB, including your Android phone.
The N-50A's front USB input is only intended to connect either an Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad or a standard USB storage device (memory stick, HDD, etc), to allow the N-50A to access and play that device's stored music files. The only thing you need is a decent hifi set-up and a pair of sensitive/critical ears. The foo_upnp plugin can be used to get the N50-A to network stream the actual discrete audio file tracks themselves, untouched (assuming you haven't configured its UPnP/DLNA media server to transcode). Interestingly, UPnP/DLNA is also supported by foobar2000 in two different ways, by the foo_upnp and the foo_out_upnp plugins. One thing you haven't mentioned testing is UPnP/DLNA network streaming, which is presumably also handled by the DM860AS1 chip. The DM860AS1 chip would certainly need to be acting as a micro controller, as the data received by it from the USB storage is a yet to be decoded/played audio file, ie, it'll need to run the N50-A's own audio file player. Ok, so the N50-A had no DSP, with its Direct mode set, but what about foobar2000's output settings?Īlso, how can you be certain what the CD player is doing to produce its output signal?
