Basically just teaching everyone who watches this to run away from your problems just because ONE guy is a douche bag. Upon knowing about Rahul’s confession to Tina, Anjali drops everything, college studies and all and just decides to run away. Like, what were they even thinking making this? 3. And, instead of being considerate and thinking about her side of the story, he makes fun of her. The worst part? Anjali tries to change her entire personality and looks to “appeal” to Rahul. Consider this: You are a boy’s best friend, have been beside him always, have feelings for him and he just dumps you for someone else because you aren’t “hot” enough! Whether the intent was to highlight the societal issues or just banking on them, this was one of the most disgusting things from the movie. Screw the best friend that has been with you from the beginning with no regards for her feelings, am I right? 2. They spend time together and fall in love, because why not. He is practically dating half the college and suddenly stops this douche-y behavior when he lays eyes on Tina (Rani Mukerji) – a UK return who is coming to a college in India to finish her last year for whatever reason. Rahul (Shah Rukh) and Anjali (Kajol) are best friends – minus that Anjali has a one-sided crush on the play boy (Rahul). What’s worse is that it is handled more poorly than even the worst of them. Rahul chooses Tina over AnjaliĪh, the usual “exchange student” cliche. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? 1. Where to even start, from the countless questionable plot decisions to the controversial dialogues, there’s a lot to cover. Here’s Everything Wrong With “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (Spoiler Alert: There’s a LOT) Wondering why? Well….the movie is NOT as great as you might remember.
Although in hindsight, that was definitely not the best way to cure the boredom. The extraordinary boredom caused by being stuck in our homes led us to do a re-watch of one of bollywood’s most iconic films i.e. Has quarantine been treating you well? It is certainly not doing us any favors.
